Allandale Station Retirement Residence in Barrie, Ontario is opening in Fall 2019 and we are currently accepting applications the position of General Manager.
In the role of General Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Allandale Station, ensuring excellence in quality of care and services to our residents.
The key responsibilities for this position will include, but are not limited to:
Overseeing and coordinating the pre-opening activities of Allandale Station, directing and participating in the residence’s marketing and lease-up program, and selecting and supervising a multi-disciplinary management team.
Overseeing all aspects of the residence’s operational programs including nursing, food services, recreation, administration, and environmental services;
Monitoring the quality of care and services; reporting, planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating remedial action and improvement, as necessary;
Reporting and communicating resident care needs to staff, family members, and medical practitioners, as required;
Ensuring the residence’s optimal financial performance in accordance with an assigned budget;
Assisting with the preparation of the operating and capital budgets; monitoring monthly variance reporting and managing all costs to approved budgets;
Responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the residence and its equipment; evaluating plans and organizing the repair and replacement needs of the building;
Interpreting and implementing current residence policies;
Handling tasks and situations related to human resources management;
Ensuring the provision of a safe, secure environment for all residents and staff, including all aspects of the Fire Safety Program;
Ensuring regulatory compliance with all levels of legislation; applying knowledge of current, relevant legislation in meeting both professional and managerial responsibilities;
Promoting and representing the residence to foster a positive community relations program;
Supporting the implementation of an innovative lease-up and marketing program to attract and retain residents;
Meeting occupancy forecasts and driving the sales process within the residence; responding to occupancy challenges.
The key qualifications for this position will include, but are not limited to:
Experience in progressive management roles where you have demonstrated your ability in leadership, interpersonal skills, marketing, and financial planning;
A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in the retirement and/or long term care industry or similar industry with related skill sets that demonstrate your ability to direct all aspects of the residence effectively;
A graduate of a certificate/diploma program or a degree in nursing, social work, gerontology, hospitality, or business;
Strong familiarity with the evolving RHRA regulations and applicable best practices; knowledgeable with other pertinent legislation relating to the overall operations of a retirement residence;
Being a self-directed, accountable problem-solver with excellent leadership and coaching skills; your leadership skills are complemented by your current knowledge of best practices in the area of human resources;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external parties; you also have excellent time management skills and are able to meet deadlines that are often time sensitive;
The incumbent shall have knowledge and working experience in the areas of: Human Resources, gerontology, budgeting, marketing/sales, and operational systems including setting up and monitoring a wide variety of guidelines;
The ability to conduct your work on a computer utilizing Microsoft Office programs;
The successful candidate must be prepared to be flexible in the hours of work to accommodate the overall operation and management of the residence;
Moderate travel may be required to fulfill the requirements of the position.
